James Elliott is a graduate of University College London where he obtained his Master's degree in Chemistry. He wrote his Master's thesis on the zinc and cadmium chalcogenides for third generation solar cell applications. James joined IHS Markit in 2014 as part of the Inorganics team. Initially his research and analysis was on the global soda ash market. From late-2014 to 2018, James covered the chlorine derivative markets: hydrochloric acid, bleaching chemicals and PVC. He contributed to IHS Markit’s Global Chlor-alkali, Global Bleaching Chemicals and Global Vinyls monthly publications during this period. James’s main research focus from 2014 was the global isocyanate markets during which hes has been the lead author on IHS Markit’s MDI and TDI World Analysis Services. He has extended IHS Markit’s coverage of the isocyanates: developing the MDI and TDI cash costs analysis, price forecasts and detailed supply/demand analysis. From late-2018, James has covered the Europe and Middle East polyurethane feedstocks markets as part of IHS Markit’s new Global Polyurethane Feedstocks Service, which launched in March 2019.
